History of The Intoxicators

2001 

Lewis Bailey, Brian Crum, Stu Lester, Adam Watson, and Sonny Dunaway form The Intoxicators.

2002

The band plays it's first show July 6, 2002 and releases a live cd.

Sonny Dunaway leaves the band and is replaced by Gary Evans.

The band records four songs for use in the Plan Nine From Outer Space Nex Gen movie. They also play the movie's wrap party at The American Legion in Tallahassee, Florida.

Stu Lester leaves the band, and Lewis Bailey switches to bass.

2003

Lewis Bailey moves to Orlando, George Dyal is added to the lineup, and Adam Watson switches to bass.

The band plays shows at several venues across Tallahassee, Florida.

The band plays live on the Hootenanny radio show (WVFS Tallahassee).

Songs from the radio broadcast are released on The Potentates Aide cd.

 

2004 

The Intoxicators arrange several new songs. "Amanda Diablo", "Phantom Mustang", "Lightning Bolt", "Agent Adam", "Tijuana Catfight","Midori", and "Human Cannonball" The majority of the new songs were written by Gary Evans.  

On February 23rd, The Intoxicators opened for Grammy nominated Los Straitjackets at Florida State University's Club DownUnder.

In April, The Intoxicators made their first appearance in Atlanta, Georgia. They opened at the Echo Lounge for "I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch In The House", and "The Cogburns".

That same month, they also collaborated with blues great Charles Atkins for a rockin blues show at The American Legion, and opened for The Toasters and The Kings Of Nuthin' at Tallahassee's Beta Bar.

In May, The Intoxicators played Tiki Torch Nights at Trader Vic's in Atlanta with The Surge as a memorial to Scott Rogers who was the lead guitarist of The Penetrators.

In July and August, The Intoxicators played a show with California punk rocker Texas Terri Bomb, and The Paragraph at Big Daddys, and Michelle Malone and Pat Puckett at The Beta Bar in Tallahassee.

In September, The Intoxicators played at Drive Invasion 2004 at the Starlight Six drive in in Atlanta, Georgia. The show featured sets by The Bo Keys, Deke Dickerson and the Ecco fonics, Nashville Pussy, Davie Allan and The Arrows, The Cogburns, Truckadelic, Artimus Pyledriver, Tiger! Tiger!, Rocket 350, Tijuana Hercules, Jimmy and The Teasers, Rock City Dropouts, Downer Brothers, Capt. Flumkin and His Amazing Flaming Seamen, and The Doll Squad. The show also featured B movies hosted by Joe Bob Briggs, Susan Barnes from the Repo Man movie, a Dixie Fried car show hosted by The Atlanta Road Kings, and a motorcycle show hosted by ABATE.

2005   

On January 31st The Intoxicators! performance on Florida State University's Outloud television show aired. The show will run periodically throughout the year.

In March, The Intoxicators! played a show at Big Daddys in Tallahassee with The Legendary Shack Shakers.

In August, The Intoxicators! played at Big Daddy's in Tallahassee with The Cogburns, and County Hell, then traveled north to Atlanta for Tiki Torch Nights at Trader Vic's. Members of Dames A'Flame Burlesque performed with The Intoxicators! at this show. Parts of this show were filmed by Turner South television for an episode of "Blue Ribbon" dealing with Tiki Bars in the south.

In September, The Intoxicators! played at The American Legion in Tallahassee with The Dexter Romweber Duo (Dex Romweber from the Flat Duo Jets).

In October, The Intoxicators! played Hukilau 2005 in Ft Lauderdale, FL with Robert Drasnin, Yma Sumac, Waitiki, Haole Kats, Tongo Hiti, and Dames A'Flame Burlesque. Members of Dames A'Flame performed alongside The Intoxicators! again. we caught up with the Turner South film crew again at the historic Mai Kai. They filmed Brian posing with the beautiful Molokia Bar cocktail waitresses.

2006   

The Intoxicators! opened up the year by playing a show with legendary L.A. band The Blasters, and Johnny Fire in Tallahassee.

In March The Intoxicators! teamed up with The Reclaimers in Tallahassee, and The Nova Rays in Orlando for "Super Surf" shows.

On April 1st The Intoxicators! played at the fabulous Jetsetter Lounge in Lake Worth, Florida.
